About
I’m Nguyen Dao, a mental health therapist holding a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Rochester (New York) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Clark University. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors.
I trained and practised at Strong Recovery, University of Rochester Medical Center, providing individual and group therapy, clinical evaluation, and crisis intervention for adults living with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. Before this journey, I worked as a research assistant at the Center for Training and Research on Substance Abuse – HIV in Hanoi.
My work is person-centred, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed. Sessions are available in Vietnamese or English – or whichever mixture feels most like you.
My passion and goals
Being bilingual in English and Vietnamese, my primary goal is to bridge cultural gaps and make professional, high-quality mental health care deeply accessible and relatable to Vietnamese communities. Mental health awareness is continuously evolving in Vietnam, and I am dedicated to breaking down existing stigmas around emotional well-being. Whether through culturally responsive individual sessions or broader community psychoeducation, I aim to foster a clinical environment where seeking support is recognized as a strength. Together, we can work through personal challenges, process trauma, and build meaningful, lasting growth tailored to your unique journey.
